there is no harmony without harm

i have buried myself
in grave danger
stood on a ledge
argued with the ground
lowered myself to its level
i was revived
i fought with fluidity
into closing jaws
with fearless pearl gates of teeth
mountain-sized framed paintings of mountains
swords and s words
censors and swinging primates
reciting the gospel of john
and recruiting every handless child in sight
to poke out their own eyes
and read in braille
the passages of long-forgotten prophets
whose unsold work
would make such a profit
that we would discard gasoline
and luxuries we have come to swear by
and dedicate our lives
to assassinating those who were wise enough
to assassinate their characters
and animate their corpses
