we steered clear of the mess
this time, kept our eyes dry
rode on the high road
under eclipses, constellations,
dippers pouring our paths
past the vultures who protect this town
the sidewalks that remain
cracked and meaning to be redone
one by one minus one
we'll die, but we'll survive

  • i don't sleep
    i don't sleep
    i blink

    ha ha ha ha ha

    late at night
    in my house
    i hear creaks

    and the ironic
    spaghetti-legged
    starving children

    ha ha ha ha ha

    i laugh at misfortune
    i care about no one
    i cannot sleep
