When December’s Sky pushed the ice to the sides of the highway
Where abandoned SUV’s lined up, skewed and on their doors
You and I dreamed a clear, dry road all the way to Umatilla Street

I found your house and parked my car against a snow bank
I saw you standing there and instantaneously I felt thirteen.
You, my future love are everything…

I set to worry over my things sitting in the passenger’s seat and
caught myself remembering. Where I was and why I’d come

Everything went odd and colored slow-mo when you came to me
A fidgeting, acquainting chest to chest and face to face
I quick-kiss stole you past the mouth and to the man
I’d only so far photo-known

We made it to the door. We let the angles make themselves down in the snow
Inside you snapped my picture and you handed me a nut-brown beer

Under the chandelier….

Under the chandelier

Under the chandelier we wrapped each other up again
Our chests doing best, the very best impression. We were virgin angels in the snow
And we stayed there

feeling all the nervous children come content to idle elsewhere down
