your so big and i'm so small
how do we come together, if at all?
like being lost in a big, big city
or stuck in a small town that ain't so pretty

when and if our eyes do meet
alone on a dirt road or a crowded street
will i know just what to say?
or will you simply turn away?

will i be old and bent and gray?
children grown and moved away
the memories will slowly return
and in my heart again you will burn

for now, unreachable, impossible, it seems
all that remains are a few faint dreams
i will wait forever for your call
perhaps i'm not so small at all

yellowbird, I hope something real happens for you so you don't have to waste years in dreams. Good luck. And I mean that sincerely.
