lying in the dark, imagining your face
waiting for sleep, and it comes too fast
not allowed the dream, trying to trick my mind
maybe i can sneak one in, but it never works

dreams of water, in many forms
tidal waves and river floods, torrential rains, and yet
never frightened, always safe, safe in here
still waiting to see your face, at least in sleep

all of the discoveries, the signs and revelations
pulled upon a string, testing faith and love and patience
a soul never quite revealed, and still partly concealed
dreaming up scenerios, and again fall fast asleep

i hope
