they say there are no snakes in Ireland
how can this possibly be?
with a climate damp and cool
and a land so lush and green

they say St. Patrick banged his drum
and drove them out to sea
but maybe one there still remains
and he seems to like the beat

like the ancient serpent
he charms them and beguiles
speaks of God and Love and Peace
another motive all the while

he travels all the nations
knows just how to save the world
like a river rushing hard and strong
but first he wants the girl

his words they taste like honey
they are sweet when they go down
but sour in your stomach turns
he does not work alone

there is beauty in all flowers
but some have hidden thorns
thorns can be there to protect
and some are there to harm

they say there are no snakes in Ireland
St. Patrick beat them down
are there snakes in Ireland?
perhaps there is but One
