moving 'round silently
in a cage not built by me
the door is left wide open
but you know i'll never leave
though my nights are empty
there's a voice that sets me free
i'm not alone

day upon day
sun it breaks through the glass
there's moments that i wonder
oh, could this be the last
signs and allusions
their coming at me fast
cannot say

said goodbye
to the life i used to know
flying undirected
no particular place to go
all the while not knowing
that the path would lead me home
said hello

remaining here
until it's safe to leave
all of life's mysteries
a tangled web we weave
dream about flying
and the fresh air that i'll breathe
with you

soaring high
let the wind take me there
free and unbinding
with nothing left to scare
some they may not understand
but why should i care
still i do

questions unanswered
perhaps for our own good
be careful what you wish for
you might get more than you should
me, i'll wrestle with these thoughts
here in my cage of wood
goodbye
