frozen cherries, stems and all
floating at the bottom
of a glass of zinfindel
i sure am glad i bought 'em
the cherries, that is
'cause they look so pretty
floating there so red and round
it makes me feel less shitty
all the chores are done
but the laundry needs some folding
instead i sit here typing
and in one hand i'm holding
the glass, that is
and all it merriment
a distraction from the real life
all that i've been sent
gave a message to a friend
surely hope he can hear
to be left here all alone
is the greatest fear
the isolation, that is
and so i drink tonight
to chase away the darkness
thus i continue to fight
