So I have not recorded music in a long time and I have never really posted any music online before. I thought since this song was born in a unique way much different than anything I have done in the past, I would share it.
So I had this wild vivid dream 5 nights ago that I was a soldier who had to leave his girl and go to war. Since the soldier was me and I... a big Pearl Jam fan...it went something like this. In part of my dream I sat on the beach watching the surfers paddle out to the surf while the instrumental for "Immortality" was going through my head. In my dream, sitting there on the sand, I pondered what I was leaving behind to go to war and how it made no sense in my head. I was scared to go and all I wanted to do was go be one with the ocean. Since I have been strongly inspired by PJ, their music and Ed's lyrics have always made me feel closer to the ocean and truly being alive. As the sun set on the ocean horizon, I slowly walked out into ocean...then I suddenly woke up once a wave washed over my head...
When I woke up at 4:00am I could still taste the salt in my mouth, then I wrote these lyrics and this song...
Paddle Out
You wonder where I've been?
I wonder where I'm going?
then you smile and say you're leaving without saying anything
It's who you are...
It's where you're going
I wonder where you've been
Paddle out with me....
Whisper something in my ear
make believe that you really care
All the precious things you have you throw them all away...
It's who you are...
It's where you're going
I wonder where you've been?
Paddle out with me....
Another five horizon sun
Ed you always were the only one to take me out to the waves
I wonder if this war will break?
paddle out with me....
Find another place to hide while the bombs drop from the sky
and I'm wondering if you're safe at home
I'm alone in this desert world and I want to see you again somewhere around bend...
It's who you are...
It's where you're going
I wonder if your listening?
