Fragile sacrament starts in slow slight years
Your endeavors are daily life
You wanna be an elder like those standing over you
Starry night skies create pillows for your hopes to achieve such intensity
Over time and through the years of wind, rain, and snow the sun will always be yours to behold
You are intelligence
Like antenna receivers uplifting and taking in energy to and from the earth to the sky you have a frequency of energy giving and taking
We stand in awe of your great ancestor's being
Sitting green grass rests holding the three of us firmly to the ground
Remarkable is your existence and smile
You are all the proud emergence of emeralds and brown-gray glory
Giant tree you are bejeweled in pine-cones down to barely the seedling standing next to you swaying for our skin
We breathe from your lives
Giant Sitka Spruce

  • But yes I probably have! Is it near the Olympic Nat'l Forest? I loved that place! You think the little elves or gnomes live there, lol, but really it is a magical place.

Lake Quinault is nestled in the Olympic Nat'l rainforest, yes.
The Olympic mountain range swallows it all up quite nicely in a pristine fern mossy tree sanctuary of fresh air and Roosevelt elk shit.
I am located just south of it a short drive away.
It's where I took Aussie Jeanie & her guy friend Vito the other day.
I told them I'd be writing poems on that tree and our other adventures we shared.

  • I have pictures, they were just roaming in and around peoples camp sites, my kids and I had an awesome time, they were little then, hmm it was about 11 years ago when I visited there. My most vivid memory was the night sky at like 3 in the morning, pristine, clear an so full of stars!

    with the elk.

it is my place of waterfall serenity. (i drink that fuckin water as a ritual)
i have a secret place up there way far into the forest.
i take very few people there.
it's a spot the eagles share with me.

  • I read your poem again, it is PERFECT, please, you should have it published...

Can you take me to your secret place in a poem? I have a poem I wrote a few years ago I will share it with you later its called Glacier so I hope it will fit in to the Olympic Forest topic.

I live where I don't want to be, San Diego, its NICE weather all the time, let me stress this with inflection, its NICE weather all the time... The deeper I go into my poetry the harder it is to find my mood and inspiration. I have exhausted my favorite music, the radio, Balboa park, beach and palm trees, now I'm devouring whatever I can read about surrealism. I need the visual, the touch the audio etc...

ONCE! The sun was shining low
    it was 2 A.M 1997 11 years ago

    The whipping whites below me,
(No, that is NOT the day)
I passed the spot where your tree was
--just 19 hours ago. (plus 11 years)

But from my view, your tree had passed
    though coming up again.
    The axis stopped in Brussels,
    Instead of old great bend.

    47 degrees of latitude
    47 degrees in all
I think I left CHOICE cigarettes
    Inside a fat room mall.

    Or in a mezzanine.

Can you take me to your secret place in a poem? I have a poem I wrote a few years ago I will share it with you later its called Glacier so I hope it will fit in to the Olympic Forest topic.

i will try to do my best to show you my secret place.
here goes, are you ready? (i hope i am)
    ....

    A secret place i know

Invited by free wings brown and white
Against a snow filled sky feathers hold my heart’s eye
    I am humbled here
So I sit quietly and listen
Talking to me are rippling waters bouncing with snowflakes falling
Trout December days are caught around me like so many hungry raptor fishing claws
Here is where a million snowflakes fall slower than a few diving screaming beaks
It is from nesting tree covered mountains through this open sky where they dance for me
I am so silent a snow covered echoing valley shares my heartbeat’s breathing
Sometimes my pen and paper dream away when snowflakes melt with the ink I write
A place like this cannot be truly seen or written but only felt to be locked away as sacred
So I am cherished as I cherish this pristine sky view
And the snowflakes never forget that snow globes have wings
    And delicate snowflakes fall
    This is eagle country
A winter’s day rests in my eyes
My lungs are breathing shared blanketed green tree freshness and feathered like silence
And the water still holds my attention with its musical caress
I have only time to be spent here
    This is my pleasure
    You are all my pleasures
Just for today allow me to be the humbled poet
I will paint your heaven in word and dusted snow ferns
White blends with blue and the river trout run swifter
Several diving acrobats before me are the showman from the trees
I cannot be bothered by icicles or a running nose
And the distance between us touches me and my paper with feelings of harmonious peace...

    (something like that)

That secret place has left me

    cold

    nose running

pine tree, half in plastic, hanging from the volume control

    hands raised in an O

    catching warm breath visible

8-track, plastic half knife shoved in the side

    playing half-coming-through Moody Blues

    going somewhere late again

always wanted to go to Olympic Nat'l Forest. Washington is actually my dream destination being an active outdoorist...hiking/camping and photographing my journeys is therapeutic for me.

Once again chadwick, your words paint an ever more present picture.
    Beautiful.

There you stand, as you've always done
From a time long before I was here
    Spreading your cool green shade
Enveloping us in your peaceful grace

My heart beats faster when I see you
And I run forward, child-like, to stretch my arms
Across your mighty, solid, never-ending girth
I fall against you, leaning into you with wonderment

Rest my head on your trunk, looking up in delight
As you stretch upwards, forever into the blue
I feel the scratch of your bark on my cheek
And I could swear I hear you whisper to me

You know things, I sense it
Secret things twisted in your long branches
I'm sure you share with me because I feel
The soothing calm from our connection

I pull away slowly and walk backward, staring up at you,
Unable to tear my eyes from your lush green perfection
I fall down on the velvet cool of the grass and lie back
Staring up to your leafy crown.

Life is perfect right now in this moment
You, who have been here all along, a new friend
Them, who have arrived recently, old friends
All of us, together, sharing this perfect moment in my life.
    NOPE!!!

Thanks love. Nothing fancy and I seem to have lost my rhythm but off the cuff I guess it wasn't too bad. More for the exercise than anything.
