now's the perfect time to listen to Olympic Platinum!

was listening to this last night as i watched Olympic coverage....don't really know or care anything about the Olympics, but this song crossed my mind - talk about a rarity....this should have been on Lost Dogs

    I say it with nothing but love, but that... is the stupidest song they have ever recorded.
    Seriously, nothing tops it, not Bugs, not Dirty Frank, not even Grammy Out of Control.

    They could do a cover of the teletubbies theme song on nothing but Kazoos, and still- Olympic Platinum will be stupidest song they have ever recorded.

    but at a time where eddie was not exactly know for having a sense of humor, this was one of the first things he ever put out there that showed he did in fact have one

    listening to this, i imagine them sitting around the studio watching the '96 olympics, doing bong hits, and deciding to have some fun to blow off steam....nothing wrong with that...lord knows i have recorded things for "fun" that wouldn't hold up to well to scrutiny

    think of all the shit like this they've recorded that we HAVEN'T heard!!

    Ed didn't write this song. The band's mixer, Nick DiDia, wrote it.

    It surprises me how many people can't grasp the humour ... the song is meant to be cheesy schmaltz (meaning, not good). The music is just as comical as the lyrics.

    Thanks you guys! I love that song! Canada should adopt it as our olympic theme...and adjust the words according to the city...When Vancouver was awarded the 2010 games, I started singing "my o-lympic dream", even though I don't support them in BC...kinda like a protest song...an anti-lympic tune, as it were...but it's a great tune when PJ does it!! If the come to Vancouver between now and 2010, I really hope that pull it out!
