this is not one long song today
an endless scream, a tortured cry
thoughts and feelings overwhelm
dark and heavy, cloud-filled sky

fear, loathing, hurt then pain
attempt to make the clamour art
can't breathe, choking, spew it out
a thousand razors slice my heart

there is no joy of voices lifted
entwined, sweet and sultry glimpses
of hearts and minds connected
together across the divide

this is not one long song today
only the deafening roar of silence
