i had worshipped all things Pearl Jam since i got Ten in 1992...bought every album the second it came out, owned every bootleg, learned to play guitar cuz PJ play guitar, etc...never got to see them live...got shut out of Randall's Island 96 (couldn't get through on the TELEPHONE - god that seems ancient!!!)

joined the tenclub and got tickets to this show....didn't know where the seats were, but they seemed good....the usher walked me and my (soon to be ex)girlfriend towards the front rows...he kept going up, up, UP, UP!!!!

seventh row center!!!!

can't put into words the feeling of not only seeing my IDOLS for the first time, but to be within spitting distance......this band that had been the centerpiece of my life were RIGHT THERE.......UNREAL.

anyhow, to make a long story short, my girl and i had been dating for 3 years, and it seemed obvious we were coming to the end of the road......i was in absolute heaven at the show, and yet she still managed to start an argument with me

i thought to myself "if i can't get along with someone when i'm in the 7th row at pearl jam, then i can't get along with them at all!"

gave her her walking papers after the show, and felt no remorse....all i could think about for weeks was 7th ROW at PEARL JAM!!!!!!

she went on to get married and have a baby, so maybe it was for the best

but that night was definitely one of the greatest of my life...you couldn't slap the smile off my face, and i didn't appreciate her even trying!

oh yeah, forgot about that! i know they had a lot of technical trouble and call that show not one of their best, but from the seventh row it was damn good for me!
