Why try to keep
What was always mine?
Why? - "Time's a wastin' -
-Don't fall behind!"

The lessons I learned
From those long-twisted ways
Have taught me to gain
From your hard-hearted pain.

And now I can see
Through my untainted eyes
That your truth was self-serving
And your love was just lies.

So now I will walk
From your troubled side.
Or just drift back, unnoticed,
With no need to hide.
If I had known then...what I know now...

    Yowser ... !!!

Cerebral, yet clear and pretty straight-forward...

It would also make a nice song

And you are right about poetry being like a personal journal.
It's pretty scary to show it to others, but you learn a lot from those lucky ones who get to read it. Not much to teach you though :o

  • this one was my way of dealing with an unfortunate upheaval in my life at age 31, when my mother told me my father was really my step-father, so in a way, that song has already been written. but i greatlly appreciate the compliment!

    I've written a few
most of them are on this board

too bad I'm not better at it than I am ... :(

Oh well, the best lyricists and poets have written a thousand times more crap than good stuff, so eventually one pearl must at least show in that pile of crap :)

I write poetry too, but it's been a while since I've last taken up the pen
shame on me, I know :)
