that night

I was there in your darkest moment
To release you from the pain
My face is of no-one
Just a shadow in the rain

My embrace is familiar
Just like an old friend
One you have not seen in years
I will wipe away your bloody tears

I feel your pain it hurts me inside
I see you slipping away
As I look into your eyes
A young face looks back at me
Not a motion to be seen
One fatal mistake will wash away your years

Years have passed since that fatal night
Only a cross remains to show your last fight
Flowers show how much you were loved
They welter in the sun as they are hit by the light

I think of you as I pass that cross
What you might have been
I think of your family the pain they feel
The loss for them is real

I look back in my mirror as to where we first met
As the rain comes down I feel anxiety inside
Some other young soul unknowingly will repeat
The same fatal mistake that lead us to meet.
He who forgets, will be destined to remember.

I wish I was the verb "to trust"
and never let you down.

Sorry for the mistake in the line "they wilt in the sun as they are hit by the light"
He who forgets, will be destined to remember.

I wish I was the verb "to trust"
