Desertion

Momentum - driving forward
to defend a cause we all but surrendered
Barriers - increasing tension
so tight we snap in opposite directions
Difference - reason for protest
as we march, the hate infects
watch it on your TV set
cancel war, today we rest

call it a dereliction of duty
degradation of all this beauty
cross-section of humankind
stay or go? make up your mind

Amendment - changing ways
protecting land we plan to invade
Resistance - if justified
not at all for how we tried
Judgement - passing sentence
disguise your crime as independence
free head start, the hate infects
seeping through your TV set
cancel war, today we rest

call it a dereliction of duty
dissected anatomy, oh what beauty
direction reflected, snap immediately
defection detected, no-one on duty
cross-section of the human way
who the fuck would want to stay
