edited July 2008 in The Porch
you think PJ would ever release studio cuts of old songs that they have reworked? WMA, Who You Are, and In My Tree come to mind, but there are probably others. I think i'm in the minority on loving the new In My Tree, but i would love to have professional studio cuts of all those songs to rock out to.

add in the alternate Garden, Even Flow and Small Town and make a whole cd of reoworked songs.

Seeing as how there has never even been a proper studio version of Footsteps, I'd highly doubt it.

In My Tree is the only song with a significant change.

Did they rework Who You Are? Sounds the same to me.

Also, WMA is the same excpet has a guitar intro now and only one drum track instead of two because it's live.

That'd be a pretty cool idea for b-sides from the next album or a Christmas single.

It would be a great idea!!! Especially for those fans who don't have an opportunity to witness the above-mentioned songs live.

Yeah Who you Are is the same. Ed just focuses on some of the backing vocals over the lead.
Havent heard WMA yet except for a daughter tag.

I doubt PJ would ever re-record old songs. That is unless they made a Guitar Hero: Pearl Jam and they lost the masters to the original songs.

To be somewhat fair they did re-record some songs for Lost Dogs. That being said I'd be shocked if they re-recorded older songs that are available on regular studio albums...

It would be cool though - even if it was just a 'live' studio session of songs... I'd buy it!

Please don't mess with my beloved "In my tree". The studio version of that song is my favorite PJ song. Of everything PJ has ever done in the studio or live, In my tree stands atop that heap. The only problem with that song is maybe the volume is mixed too low compared to the other songs. I have to turn the volume up during that song to make it sound as the same level of volume as the songs on either side of it. So a remaster is definitely in store but please, not a remix. Generally speaking, and there are exceptions, remix's are bad.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

well its not gonna erase all the No Code versions! Its my favorite song too, but I like both ways they play it, and wouldn't mind studio versions of both.

Oh I was unaware that some Lost Dogs songs were re-recorded, I thought they were just remixed, or maybe different vocal tracks were used that were recorded during the original sessions. Also, I know that Mike did record a new guitar track for "Brother" but over the original recording. So now i'm curious, what Lost Dogs songs are completely new recordings?

I think Wash was a new recording. Or at least it totally sounds like it.

Oh Fuck, I sure hope that doesn't happen. Nothing against Guitar Hero, I just mean them losing the maters to the original songs. Maybe they should keep them in a vault.

i think Alone, Hard To Imagine, Black Red Yellow, and U all have older versions with slightly different lyrics and i think BRY has a different length on the old single it was on.

Dirty Frank has vocals removed, and sounds remastered from old version.

Wash is totally different, cleaner sound, no reverb, etc

So none of these are completely new recordings, they're just altered mixes of the old versions.

The new guitar intro to Porch(2006-present versions) is one sick sonofabitch! I'll like to see them redo that track.

yeah, wasnt disagreeing with u, was just trying to clarify. i could of course be wrong, but nothing has been re-arranged to the extent of Puzzle &Game -> Light Years, or Jeremy -> New Jeremy, etc

id love to see cd of the re-arranged songs.

    "New" Jeremy
Alternate Oceans (the one with heavier drums)
Porch (new slow intro / the acoustic version / ed solo version)
    Garden
    WMA
    Small Town
    Corduroy (bridge school version)
    Who You Are
    In My Tree
    Acoustic Lukin
    Sunburn
    Solo Parting Ways
    non-spoken-word Bushleaguer
