should Mirror Ball be included as a PJ album?

I kinda just consider it PJ's 4th album with Merkinball.

i definitely hear Pearl Jam in every song. i wasn't a big Young fan back in the day but now i love this album, especially "Big Green COuntry", "Peace and Love" (that part where eddie comes in at the end is awesome), "Im the Ocean" .

I always thought it was Dave playing drums, but i found out its Jack. his drums kick ass.



i hope they play a few more of these songs live. I've only heard Actof Love. are there more?

    i don't consider it a PJ album, because none of the members wrote any of the songs. except for Peace and Love where Eddie contributed some parts of the lyrics, but that's it.

    Is this a fact? Neil wrote the music for every song?

    It's definately a Neil Young album. But unlike one he's ever made.
    He's recounted more than a few times that it's the only time he put things in the hands of others. He left behind all the people he's familiar with (producer, manager, etc) and went up to Seattle by himself. Recorded at PJs studio, with their producer.
    In that sense, Pearl Jam had a very real role.
    Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.

    It's a Neil Young Album.

    Neil has played with dozens of backing bands over the years. PJ was one of the better collaborations.

    It's a Neil Album. As others have said, one of his best, but Neil's got the lead on it.

    It definitely sounds more like NY than PJ to me. They're like a really kickass Crazy Horse. But man, the solos on that album are SO Neil Young.

    I think it might be both cuz i remember reading somewhere a while back that Neil wanted to give PJ credit on the cover but couldn't because of legal issues. Something like that.

    I have the two song cd disk called Pearl Jam Merkinball. On the back it says "This piece accompanies Niel Youngs Mirrorball. The songs are great. They are "I Got I'd" and the "Long Road". I knew there was a matching album with Niel Young but thought the name was different. What do I have and is it considered an album of thiers. I love it and wear it out since 1997, 11 yrs. now and this is new to me.

    Not only did PJ played as guest artists but Brendan O'Brien also produced and played guitar and bass on it.

    Another wierd thing is that; Merkinball only had Ed, Jack, Neil, Jeff, and Brendan. Mike and Stone didnot play on it but they did on Mirror Ball.

    Anybody know why Stone & Mike weren't in Merkinball?

    If anyone is reading this thread (especially younger readers) and thinking to themselves "hmmm, I wonder what this Mirror Ball album all these people are talking about is really like"...

    Drop whatever it is you are doing and go and get it right now; i-tunes, no-tunes, who-gives-a-fark-tunes - you have to get it (by any means necessary).

    About as awesome as it gets.

    Merkinball was released in 1995, between Vitalogy and No Code. It was born of the Mirrorball sessions with Neil Young.

    As ty pointed out, it is considered an EP and is counted as a Pearl Jam release.
