A Musical?

I've been thinking about this for a long time, after I started to listen to Pearl Jam and bands that surronded them. Wether it be Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, and whoever else. Anyway. I always thought that by using a musical as a setting, the Internal/ external struggles of whatever the songs protrayed could be brought to light using characters; each representing a different band and singing songs from them. And they could all be connected in some story that changes them or betters them in some way, just like the music has done for the listener. Some songs that seem fitting to this idea could be: In My Tree, Alive, Present tense, Betterman, and Not For You. Has any one else thought of this?
