We walked together on a cloud
Of misguided thoughts and familiar realizations
Never thinking of those faces we’d see
The disapproving looks and let down feelings
A parents sigh when you’ve done wrong
Tissues filled with tears and heart wrenched sorrow
Aching for a past that never really was
Creating a future on what you can change
These thoughts are filling and forever devious
Without one another we’re falling backwards
Our lives passed slowly for some reason now
Never ending is the thought that it should have been more
I was here before but not in this way
Knew the outcome from the other side and separation it brings
Offering the knowledge of just a few months
My mind thought it knew what I was afraid of
But all I felt was you
Having the pleasure u gave as a gauge for truth
Not seeing in the distance what was to come…
Blinded myself to the real words you said
Unsure of myself and who was to blame
It was me who stood still and did not admit
Holding on to what I had but making you choose
Staying here with my past though wishing you’d move
How can I apologize to a deafening silence
Mistaken thoughts on the feelings of love
Invisible notions and a forever changed mind
The connection is undeniable regardless of regret.
