A Penny for Your Thoughts

I was walking around in a daze
Looking back over my shoulder
Trying to figure out where the hell I was going
Getting nowhere but older
Thinking about the dreams I used to have
And the person I used to be
Wondering if I would ever find myself again
When this voice said to me:

"A penny for your thoughts
What's going through your mind?
Even the best players
Strike out from time to time"

"A penny for your thoughts
You think you think too much
You spend your whole life dreaming
Of the goals you left untouched
Wake up and do something with your life
Before you miss the bus"

And I said:
How can I change my world
When I can't even change my mind?
How can I possibly get all these things done
When I haven't got the time?
How can I be myself
When I'm never satisfied with me?
How can I change the world
If I can't even change me?

The voice said:
"A penny for your thoughts
Maybe this will change your mind
If you give up without even trying
You'll never be satisfied"

"A penny for your thoughts
You think you think too much
You'll spend your whole life dreaming
If you leave your goals untouched
Wake up and do something with your life
Before you miss the bus"
