Merry Christmas from Cleveland

She rises up from the Jennings Freeway
Like the great Emerald city...she is
Public Square will be lit up today
And I think of what you'll miss
As I walk to the arena
A song echoes down Bolivar
Its Michael Stanley singing about "My Town"
On the jukebox at the Gateway bar
Wandering through the plaza
Jacobs Field just across the way
Its cold and deserted except for 2
Who stand and stare where 46,000 used to play
Its Christmas in Cleveland
And I wish you were home
We could sit and talk for hours
No need for a telephone
Let the snow pile up outside
We'd have to dig ourselves out
Merry Christmas from Cleveland
In your heart is what its all about
No matter where you go
Who you see, or what you do
Cleveland is always home
You take a piece of her with you
Took a walk down by Edgewater
Just to watch the waves crash into the breakwall
It was pretty chilly outside
But I didn't seem to feel it at all
Seems my mind was somewhere else
I'd been thinking of you
And dreaming of summer days
When the southern winds blew
I'm feeling like this weather
And a lake effect snow that comes too soon
Erie...she hasn't frozen over yet
Maybe she misses you too
Grey clouds overhead
Would tend to make me feel blue
But I can see some shards of sunshine
Poking their way through
And like this year that's nearly spent
Seen some grey, seen some blue
I can only hope that the next is better yet
Its my Christmas wish for you
Merry Christmas from Cleveland

This was something I'd written a few years back for one of my best friends who is a truck driver.
Happy Holidays and a safe and Prosperous New year to you all!!
