She Was

She was lonely, rather bored
feeling very ignored
and out of touch
and out of reach
and not at all herself

At least, not the self that she knew
and secretly loved
and adored

In between losers
thinking that she'd never find anything meaningful
wondering if she'd spend the rest of her life
talking to her cats

And this one friend
comes to her rescue
wakes her up
makes her believe in herself again

So they have fun for a time
Not so much the Graduate
but sweeter
much, much sweeter

But it can't last and of course it doesn't
but...
...while it lasts, she comes alive again
and into her own

And he learns something new

He learns he can awaken a sleeping bud of a flower
Oh my God, such power

Now she's happy, and he is too

And they lived happily ever after too
