Waiting

If I stand here long enough
I’ll see the next brown leaf
break itself away
and fall gently to the ground
Another sacrifice
Another lonely death

The trees are wet and black as night
against the yellow, red and copper
Nature huddles, shivers a bit
waiting for her blanket of snow
Another year gone by
Another triumph over death

How many more winters?
Would I even want to know?
No, no, I wouldn’t, couldn’t
so…
I’ll just stand here
waiting for the snow
Feels Good Inc.
