Saddam Hussein is hanged today
and all I can do is cry over a cat
who took his last breath two weeks ago
yes all I can do is just mourn

Mourn everything
except a man I don't like
and a war I hate even more

World peace makes sense when you're safe at home
and the candles are lit and the incense is burning
and the world is just turning and nothing bothers you
or touches you

But tell this to a brother in Iraq
who just wants his wife back
and just wants his life back
and he can't come home yet
Tell that to him and he'll tell you an ear-full:

But will you hear it?

I cry over a beloved cat yet these men are over there
and yes, today, we hung a bad guy,
but to a bunch of folks this bad guy
was Clint Eastwood with a bad haircut
and a mustache full of fleas

Makes me want to say "Please!"
But what do I ask for next?
World Peace doesn't really work anymore

So what do I ask for now?
Maybe I'll just ask for life, instead of peace

Seems maybe I can be granted that, at least

Nothing fancy, nothing stellar
Just take me out of the cellar
and grant me a life full of love

Love enough to carry the cat to heaven
on wings so light they are see-through

Love enough to cry over a man who was hanged
because he had a cause

Everything is relative tonight, my dears
Life is sacred tonight, my dears

So hold onto it, hold it near
and dear

Hold onto it even while it gasps its last gasp
takes its last grasp
Hold on, because this is all we may have
Feels Good Inc.

Your cat is more important than politics:
    The news sucks
    but a cat licks.
  • That was impactful given recent events. I relate to your thoughts.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.
