That version of Why Go from Lollapalooza 07 is one of the most intense renditions of any Pearl Jam song I have ever heard. The crowd and the band appear to be going balls to walls apeshit. Just that intro of the drums and overall first 1:30 seconds seem to be the craziest shit the band has done in a along time. Mind you I'm drunk and just had an intense conversation with a girl I love deeply and am leaving very soon, but GOD DAMN. What a song.

yeah don't get me wrong i love long road, realease, wash etc. but as far as openers go i love a fast start. i think why go was awesome. that was an incredible concert i think b/c of the energy from the start. there was a boot from 03 i think champaign, il and they opened with do the evolution. i really dug that boot b.c of the fast start.

The energy at that place when they opened with that shit was balls to the walls. It didn't really slow down for four songs when they played Small Town. For a greatest hits set list that show was fucken sick.

I was at that show and have it on my ipod. I still get goosebumps everytime Why Go comes on shuffle...takes me right back to that night. I thought that was a great show with a lot of energy, but I didn't think they sounded that great from a technical aspect. They definitely rocked, but McCready seemed to be having guitar problems and Ed's voice was a little off..like he was out of breat the whole time. I think it was mostly due to the fact that they were using festival gear (speakers/setup) instead of their own stuff and it was about 100 degrees outside.

It's that camera shot on the dvd that makes it look so intense. The shot is from behind the stage so you can see the song start and because its still light outside you can see the whole crowd jumping up and down to the drum intro. It looks frickin' sick!

I've never seen that, but based on that description, I MUST.

It was awesome but it sucked at the same time for the people who were in the first couple of rows, I was getting pushed and shoved around, guess it comes with the territory. Is there a place to watch the pro shot stuff from the show, or a torrent or anything?
    32 shows and counting...

Yea, it definitely set the stage for the first set, which seemed to be nothing but drunk guys trying to mosh and/or crowd surf back where I was. An unforgettable night in that respect...one I enjoyed, but not one I'd love to relive all the time.

I, too, have Lolla on my IPod. I can't tell you how many times I'll be at the gym when that comes on and I get an amazing rush thinking back about that night.

Best booze there was the bottles of wine they put in the sport bottles by the way...of course, I'd downed like two of them before MMJ was done with their set. It was a fun, fun night...I might have to relive it on my drive to work later.
