One of a sum

If I were a bud
in a bunch of buds
On a branch
in between my hands
I would be one in many
one of a sum
One in many
under my thumb
in a bunch of buds
On a branch
in between my hands
I would be one in many
one of a sum
One in many
under my thumb
I scream in affirmation
of connecting dislocations
and exceeding limitations
by achieving levitation

Graduate of the School for Sexual Gifted....magna cum loads
Although this is simply written, the reason I like it is due to the juxtaposing of seemingly simple writing with more complex ideas.
"I" starts out as a bud. A single figure with nothing else surrounding. Then the scene grows to a "bunch of buds" which is now the new single figure (a single group really). Then a branch is added, growing the picture. Now we take a twisting turn by making this all encompassing object, a bunch of buds on a branch, very small by putting it in between "my hands."
This is a very important change in the point of view, because it drastically alters the perception. Now not only are we talking about one bud, or one group of buds, but we have now virtually exploded our confinements, by changing our picture to one person in a world of many people, holding one branch with a group of buds on it. The one bud that we began with, that was the only thing in our picture, has now become insignificant on a grander sense.
Then with the second stanza, we alter inbetween this bud being a One in a group of Ones, to being part of One, back to being One in a group, and ending with the bud returning to an insignificant piece of the puzzle in "My" world.
And what really makes this so important, is that the poem begins with the question of "If I were [that] bud" that becomes so insignificant in a much larger world. So in one set of 8 lines, the reader is deified at the same time as they are minimalized to virtually nothing.
Although it may sound like there is a negative tone, I think it is a very positive writing because even though this bud eventually disapears into a much larger picture, it is still One in itself, as it is also One of a sum. And if it is one in itself, as I am one in myself, then there is a greater sense of self control, at the same time as there is a sense of humility.
And as this bud grows individually, it effects, and is effected by the rest of the group of buds, as with the branch, as with "my hands."
