A curbside home lies on the steaming grate,
Her dull grey eyes sadly peer from her blanket,
Yesterday's memories carved into today's face,
To cold to speak, her face did for her.

Begging for change from the only life she knows,
A gap for a smile, and stains for skin,
Young hands wishing to be held,
And comforted with a grin.
