Scrapbook fragments

Does anyone else keep a little book or something in which you write little fragments, thoughts, pieces and bits ?

If so, what do you do with them when you don't have a context to put them in ... ?

I have a lot of stuff, but they're all like 2 / 4 sentences, 1 stanza....
Is it wise to keep 'em for later, or should you set them free inside this cruel world ?

e.g.
*my voice echoes not the words
but what they mean
Great's the pain I selfinflict
Sad's the heart of this young man
Bitter's what he has become

I put little fragments of paper with notes/thoughts/whatever in a cute lavendar circular box. I don't look at them, but maybe one day I will. I've had them for years. The intention is that they may grow into longer poems, but I rarely if ever look at them.

Aren't there some things you think are worth sharing with others?
Things you like to re-read, even though you know you will never finish it ?
Just like the stuff I just posted here, they're things that came to me in class, in my bed when I was staring at the ceiling again, ... etc.

I don't know... are they ever worth posting on here/showing the to anyone?
I would to know your opinion on that :)

Sure, show them. I don't routinely share them because it's like out-of-sight out-of-mind. I put them in my cute box, and don't have to deal with them. I may have attached more emotion to scraps when I was younger, but now I know that If I have a good thought, write it down, put it in the box, and maybe I'll have a better thought later that results in an entire poem. It's an exercise for the brain, the little thoughts, but there's always a chance something better will come along. The little thoughts are pretty witty though :)

I have a very big note book with a lock on it. I have been writing for 12 years now. I hate looking back at the old stuff because it really sucks. I dont let anybody read my stuff. My family always wants to read them, but I dont let them. Only you guys can read them, I wont even let my girlfriend read them. I guess its because most of them are not about her.

i've got several books that contain bits and pieces of things that i started but never really worked on again.

in fact, i just posted one on this board, called 'prologue.'

i've recently been going back through my old journals and notebooks and posting them on here, as well as several 'poems,' 'verses,' etc.

i figured it'd be better to share some of these things with others than to just keep them in storage in my basement.

Here's a little tidbit I found about two minutes before reading your post. Very weird...I'll share it on freakiness of the timing alone but normally I too just toss it in a box with the rest of my unfinished work in hopes of coming back to it later. Anyways, this is apparently from 2001.

You know what? I'll go home, grab a handful from that box, and I'll make sure it's from the bottom so it's the oldest stuff, and tomorrow I'll post some tidbits in the life of Ms. Haiku from years ago. Should be fun.

This one was kind of personal, 'cause that's kind of how I've wanted to feel in the last months... instead of being depressed and letting everything get to me.

I thought : on my birthday, yes, today(06/16), I shall set my spirit free by sharing.

Now, my decrepite soul I lay to rest
    upon the pillows of indifference

    a little book?
if only. i have several notebooks on the go. but when i go out i always carry in my bag my A5. i keep everything. if i don't end up using it, it still lives. i've learnt to write everything down and i doodle and i make lists. and usually i transcribe my rough notes into my big book.
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say

I forgot I carry a little blank book in my bag. The first entry is from February 27, 2000 when I lived in Seattle. Here are some from that date:

-I last saw you the summer I turned 20, then I fucked things up. But my mother remembers having a crush on a basketball player in high school. . . obviously not realized . . .So, I'll be like everyone and have their memories I can puff up or deflate at will.

-Don't be scared of my thoughts. I don't wear orange shoes.

-I'd rather look out a window than receive advise. But often advise is given and sometimes it pops up as I look out a window.

-So candidates for City Council who win some then lose some, do they do temp work in between elections? Write articles or sell organic produce?

-What a way to ruin a life by depending on pre-nuptuals(sp?) or divorce.

-The most used downtown bus stop across the street from Marcella's bridal window. Sometimes I want a car very much.

    I just found this:

I keep my hand in your pocket to keep your pocket warm.
