don't get me wrong I hear the point of them being 'art' and that needs to be considered. each one I own is very special to me but when I see them on ebay the night after a show selling for $200+ and there are so many of us out there that want them for personal enjoyment not for profit I just wonder if there isn't a better way

I'm not going to lie, I like the fact that the posters are so limited. It makes my collection seem all the more unique and worthy of collecting. The thrill of getting a poster that is signed/numbered with a small run is amazing. I agree, however, that flipping them immediately sucks.

That being said, I've never had to rush the booth for a Pearl Jam poster. I've only seen them live once and I didn't like the print (Saskatoon 2005) enough to purchase it. I'm hoping to take part in the madness sometime in the future. I also have no problem purchasing them online. I'm 5/5 on that front.

More posters, More Zippos, more everything. I could care less about the limited nature or the resale value of the poster I buy because its not going to be resold. I would be perfectly happy if everyone in the arena got one. As many have suggested, the option to buy the poster with your tickets would be great.

Santa Cruz was a wonderful experience/show/vacation. 4th row ten club seats and what a beautiful town. The only negative of the whole evening was that I had to choose between dinner and drinks with my wife or standing in line at 5:30 to get a poster. I'm 39 years old and the notion of standing in line for a poster seems a bit ridiculous. We chose dinner/drinks and of course by the time we got in the venue all the lighters and poster were sold out. I will admit when I packed my empty poster tube into my suitcase on Sunday morning I was bummed and briefly regretted my decision. Should I now pay 4x the venue price for the poster on ebay, which makes no sense that some kid makes this profit selling me a poster to show I attended and traveled to from Virginia. That money could go to charity.

One day I will get smart and stand in line with the profiteers with a pocket full of cash and a poster tube. Hell no, I rather have dinner and a few beers.

there could be an easy way to satisfy everyone:
A the limited number of silk print for the collectors that want the rarity factor  or a nicer print.
then a large number of normal paper prints for the people that only care about the artwork or souvenir value (they would be cheaper to make and so to buy)

    that way everyone is happy.
  • just wait a few months (years) and the prices will fall. The poster craze is coming to an end anyway. Just give the EV posters some time, they're kinda dull. They'll drop in price soon... especially when the PJ tour posters come out (or the next Obama poster whatever)
