Someone Like You

A lot of people never use their initiative. Perhaps because no-one told them to. These are the type of people who believe nothing can be done to change the world until capitalism crumbles, so they go shopping to console themselves. Have they not discovered the capacity to love and hold it sacred, or just realised that when you love someone so much you can sleep with someone else behind their back and it doesn't even matter. Are these modern citizens cementing the notion that people who get up early in the morning cause war, death and famine or are they simply earth's frustrated gardener's coming to the conclusion that even when 'The last tree has been cut down and final river polluted' that reciting native indian prverbs makes you sound like a fucking muppet.
Does it strike a chord?
Is this Someone Like You?
All hail the cry 'Big Brother is watching you', but maybe Big Brother is watching bootlegged Dutch porn on the next screen along while the anti-war protest organisers are screaming 'Don't just do something, stand there!'
There are no exceptions to the rule that each believes they are the exception to the rule. To accept the consequences of hurried actions are a rare trial - for people like you. For people like me. The militatn rodent in us thriving on our incessant wants and nee - sorry wants, while the embodiment of the system takes place just feet below our own.
You win the rat race and your still a rat.
While giving a thousand monkeys a thousand typewriters, you may end up at some point with a novel - try giving them a thousand sticks of dynamite and see how long it takes them to make a city a more beautiful looking place. One primate - evidently the author in the troop - stands flag aloft, vindicating Picasso with his roaring battlecry 'The urge to destroy is also a creative urge'. Indeed.
Beauty is in the eye of the corroder - for people like you, for people like me - and every time you hear the word 'culture' there's an instamatic, polaroid moment as you suppress the urge to unvlip the safety on a 9mm, somehow knowing that this is not a photo opportunity.
Somewhere, among the lovers and other strangers, a superhuman assessor of our particular predicament ponders 'It is a little embarrassing to come to the end of one's career and find that one has little more to offer than - try to be a little kinder.' Indeed.
Doing what your told is overrated, its been said that more crimes are committed in the name of obedience than disobedience. Its those who follow authority blindly who are the real danger. Is this Someone Like You. You're on your own this time mate.
Marching with the mercenaries to deride and conquer or clocking the card for number one - wake up one day and realise that the quickest way to the top of your business - is to turn it upside down.

Yes, I was describing what happened to the German people to my 13 year old son the other day and he could hardly believe it.

I'll have to find some old footage of Hitler's speeches and the marching soldiers and waving onlookers so he can get a visual picture to connect with the idea.

If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.
