Angel

A spark came knocked me off balance
Out of the blue
Through wires
Images
Sounds and words,
Stumbling through a day
A year
And another day
I was cushioned by the spectacle of it all
Surrendered at an altar of nothingness

Like the mirrored face of a drunk and dreaming dandy
When shattering the rivers black and numb veneer
I awoke lucid and unsure
Swallowed by a wave of something bigger
With nothing but her face to guide me

Who is this angel with eyes of violet?
Who hears the beating of her broken wing?
I will follow her star through night and day
As it flickers out of reach
A million human dramas distant
And an ocean at my feet

Through glass and wires she came
My angel with no name

A spark came knocked me off balance

    Trudging through a day
    A year
    And another day

A spark that knocked me off balance

    For her...

A spark came knocked me off my feet
    Out of the blue
    Through wires

    And another day
I was cushioned by the spectacle of it all
Surrendered at an altar of nothingness

Like the mirrored face of a drunk and dreaming dandy
When shattering the rivers black and numb veneer
    I awoke lucid though unsure
Swallowed by a wave of something bigger
With nothing but her face to guide me

Who is this angel with eyes of violet?
Who hears the beating of her broken wing?
I will follow her star through night and day

    A million human dramas distant
And an ocean at my feet

Through glass and wires she came
A spark, an angel, a flame

That final tweak was what it needed. I could read this one over and over again -- the words trip off the tongue.
