Thank You

thank you for everything
nothing as well
the thoughts that I had
yet never did tell
the love of my life
the war in my head
the heroes unsung
the better off dead

and thanks for the darkness
that blankets the light
thanks for each day
and thanks for each night
thanks for the way
when I look in your eye
the lines start to fade
and we start to die

thanks for the struggle
and also the pain
the warmth of the summer
the smell of the rain
thank you for language
and thank you for lust
thanks for reflection
and thank you for trust

thanks for confusion
thank you for hugs
thank you for boredom
and thank you for bugs
thank you for screaming
and thank you for laughter
thanks for beginnings
and everything after

thank you for solace
and thank you for pride
mystery, eloquence
the moon and the tide
thanks for the gifts
and everything rotten
all that I've learned
and all I've forgotten

thanks for old age
and also regret
thank you for suffering
and feeling upset
thanks for the roads
for now we get lost
and thank you for freedom
no matter the cost

thanks for libations
and thanks for disease
thank you for virgins
and thank you for sleaze
thank you for beaches
and thanks for the weak
the pious, the foolish
the wise, and the meek

thanks for not caring
and thanks for your time
thanks for creating
the reason and rhyme
thank you for god
and thank you for man
thank you for nature
and thanks for the plan

thank you for everything
that's different than me
and thank you for nothing
that I cannot be
thanks for perception
thanks for what's wrong
thanks for the feeling
that I don't belong

thanks for the rules
and how they all break
thanks for what's perfect
and thanks for what's fake
thanks for this hell
thanks I can see
thanks for this poem
and thank you for me

wow, I really like this poem. thanks for sharing.

    "all that I've learned
    and all I've forgotten"

That's the quickest way I've ever heard one person's whole life experience being summed up before.
