Commuting Killing Spree

On this cold, damp, autumn morning
How could you know this would be your last?
Waking with the sounds of nature
Flourishing and surviving amongst the falling leaves
A moment of courageousness overwhelms you

I ride along singing songs to the little boy behind me
He's consumed with the sights and sound around him
Innocent as can be, singing with me
A more perfect setting this could not be

When all of a sudden
You run out in the middle of the fucking road
And at 60 mph I have no time to swerve
Your fur now becomes one with the treadmarks
That crush you into oblivion
You're the third one this week!

You dumb freakin' squirrels
Even the birds that nibble on your carcass
Know better than to run out into the road
So tell your friends beware
And watch where the hell they're going!!!
I love to turn you on

I accidentally backed over a squirrel on the driveway one dark morning. There was a big crunch and I found the squashed body later that day. :o
