A Child's Rainbow

Picture a rainbow larger than life
So bright and clear
Beginning in the clouds
Cascading over the treeline
And falling into the ocean

A little girl is playing alone in her yard
All of five years old
She looks up and stares in wonder
Where does this colorful road end?
How can she get there?

She picks a white flower and holds it up to the sky
Using her imagination she looks through the petals
The flower is now any color she wants
Until the rainbow falls forever into the sea
A more beautiful picture I have never seen
I love to turn you on

Why does the road have to end? Or is the road just the beggining?

lmfao my criticism... I hope did not sound like a call out did it? but wasnt sure if you meant

*thought* that the road was never ending taking them to different places/ turns in the road.... thus being the begginning

    or

*thought* to see the journey through children's eyes is a beautiful picture

  • what are the odds that i would have just written a poem about a rainbow as well?
but i saw one of the best one's i had ever seen while on vacation with my girls last week. was gonna start a thread, but after reading yours, i thought maybe it would be better to add it on here. hope you agree.

    the rain soaked our hair
    water formed droplets
on the tips of our noses
    dripping onto bare feet
    sunk into wet grass
    our clothes darkening
    clinging to our skin
I took one small set of fingers
    in each of my palms
    and ran
    and puddle jumped

we could of waited it out
    in the car
    sat under
    a poorly erected tarp
    complained
    but instead we ran
    shivered
    laughed
    and waited for the rainbow
    my oldest named the colours
and asked where it lead to
"where ever you want it to"

    Why are there so many
    Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
    Rainbow's are visions
    They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
    Believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see

    Someday we'll find it
    The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

    Who said that every wish
    Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
    Somebody thought of that
    And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
    What's so amazing
    That keeps us star gazing
What so we think we might see

    Someday we'll find it
    That Rainbow Connection
The lovers the dreamers and me

    Have you been half asleep
    And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
    The young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that I'm supposed to be

    Someday we'll find it
    The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

*I love the lyrics to that song*
