Heading down the road
Southwest of Charleston
On a six lane highway
My future unknown
Green leaves hanging in trees
Baked against the Southern sun
The wind is blissfully playful
Moss is tired and blown

Not another car for miles
As I’m flipping the stations
Hearing preachers keep saying
'Your life’s going to change'
When up in the distance
A man is drawing nearer
He’s heading right for me
Life is suddenly strange

A man with one leg
Is crutching down my new highway
Dressed in shredded fatigues
Yet he’s not going my way
His skin is just melting
With such determination
Should I give him a lift
Wonder what would he say?
I love to turn you on

I just noticed that you say it's a six lane highway...isn't that unusually wide?
And, would it really be empty?

    thanks,

yes - eerily (is that a word?) wide
and, yes, it was empty...except for the man
I love to turn you on
