Stormy Night

At nightfall they come,
Their feet frolicking along the fields,
In perfect rhythm.
Booming percussion crashes,
An exalting expression of ecstasy.
The tempo slows,
The dancers shuffle cautiously,
Then hastily halt to see
The fiery, flashing disco ball
Streaking yellow all about,
Illuminating their dance floor
With sparkling intensity.
The dancers rise again,
A faster tune summons them.
Their breath shortens,
Exhaled in strong, short gusts,
Nearly cutting short their dance.
Yet they remain
Standing, moving, dancing
In perfect rhythm.
At dawn they depart,
Retreating from the scene
As swiftly as they entered,
They move on, travel forward
To dance again, awakening another field
To celebrate life.
~I love thunderstorms... my favorite kind of weather!~
Their feet frolicking along the fields,
In perfect rhythm.
Booming percussion crashes,
An exalting expression of ecstasy.
The tempo slows,

Illuminating their dance floor
With sparkling intensity.
The dancers rise again,
A faster tune summons them.
Their breath shortens,
Exhaled in strong, short gusts,
Nearly cutting short their dance.
Yet they remain
Standing, moving, dancing
In perfect rhythm.
At dawn they depart,
Retreating from the scene
As swiftly as they entered,
They move on, travel forward
To dance again, awakening another field
To celebrate life.

"To live,.... love,..... there's a song to be sung,....
'cause we may not be the Young Ones,..."
--first u sow the seed-- nature grows the seed-- then we eat the seed--
nah,... we smoke it!
'cause we may not be the Young Ones,..."
--first u sow the seed-- nature grows the seed-- then we eat the seed--

I googled my poem, and here I find it on Pearl Jam's Message Pit. If you, too, google it, you will find the poem on other sites, and that I, Nicole Niederdeppe, am the author. I wrote the poem at 17 for an English class, and possess the original copy with teacher feedback on it. While I don't mind being quoted, I would appreciate if in the future, when you use this poem you would please attach my name to it. Thank you, Nicole Niederdeppe0
