Slide off those clothes
You wear to be another man
And lift the hair
Off your neck and let me taste
What you really are
Without the pretenses
And forgone conclusions.
I can see it in your eyes
You're at the same place I am
Not quite sure of which road to take
Or where the flame is
To light the way.
I'm working on a map
I'm tracing my plans here on your skin
Slide off these clothes
These rumours of what I am supposed to be
The way I should laugh
Smile and eat
What I should say
When I should sleep.
Ah,
We're trying
Lost in a jumble
Of mumbled conversations
And jumbled up lines
Well I-
I'm not sure.
I know that pressed here aginst you
The journey doesn't seem so far
Nor does the end
Have a possibility
Of terrifying pain as we realize
Perhaps we took the wrong door,
The wrong path
Or forgot our flame
Or maybe
it does
Perhaps
The darkness is a relase
And we are here
At the end of our jorney.
Then why -
Tell me this
With your pain sweetened kiss
Am I empty?
You say I have reached the final destination
Show me your feet
Are they bleeding like mine?
No, so then how
Have you reached me
In your elegant surpriority?
Perhaps,
Oh,
I don't know,
I never said I have the answers
To the question I pen
With a weary hand
I'm not even sure
Of who stares back at me in the mirror
Or who it is with which I choose to lay
Or what i say
I know though
That you are not the end
Or the beginning
But I have to leave.
So put back on those clothes
Chosen by an unseeing eye
I'm trying
To piece myself together
From the jumble of lines
The mumbles of crowds
Unseen.
Just let me choose
My own path
Let me carry
My own flame.
