When did you get into PJ

I think most of us got in PJ during Ten and VS, but I have read some posts around here lately where the Poster said they didnt get into PJ until late 90's or into the 2000's.

My question is what got you into PJ if you are one of those people who didnt get it until the late 90's or 2000, because at that time you had to look for them, they were not in your face.

In 2002, my freshman year of college, I would go back home to Atlanta every other weekend to see friends and family (5 hours each way). I would pop in random cds and play them end to end. I once put in Ten and from then on... NO LIE... I have yet to put in any other cd other than a PJ cd. At the time, I only knew Even Flow, Jeremy, Alive, and maybe Black. I dont listen to other bands unless its at work on the radio. I now own probably 80-100 pj cds.

Honestly, it was hearing I Am Mine on the radio back in like september of 2002. Been a fan ever since. Worked my way backwards through their catalog. Not sure how it took that long to discover em, but no regrets here -- i'm gettin my fix this year for sure :)

'98 ... I bought Yield on a whim in a used record store. I then found the now defunct Five Horizons website. The rest is history.

    7-year old count? :)

    Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Uh oh, somebody took my bait. Unless that was a joke.

I just want to say one thing.
I don’t understand how you become a fan off of Last Kiss. It’s not pj’s sound at all.

And I’ve heard people say Last Kiss is what got them started.

I was a fan of Ten and Vs, and I bought Vitalogy in the 8th grade. I appreciated Ten but thought it was overrated. I liked Vs a lot and I liked Vitalogy but didn't fully appreciate it for a few years.

After 1996, it kind of seemed like PJ disappeared from my radar. I didn't hear any promotion or singles for No Code. I might have heard Who You Are and not recognized the band. So, I found myself missing Pearl Jam without even really knowing what they were all about.

Then, in 1997 I saw PJ open for the Rolling Stones in Oakland, CA. They played the hits, plus a bunch of songs from their unreleased album, Yield. I immediately became a huge fan. I thought PJ's performance was more enjoyable than the Stones, who were still awsome.

Once Yield came out I was obsessed with it. I thought it was such a creative yet no less rocking album. I tried to get friends into it but the ones who had written Pearl Jam off years before weren't willing to listen properly.

From 1998 on I was obsessed with rediscovering all the Pearl Jam I'd been too dense to pay attention to before. I found all the tracks on Vs and Vitalogy that I somehow missed and found new obsession with those albums. I discovered No Code and its awsomeness in 2000.

Even though I became a die hard, it still took me a few years to appreciate Binaural. I was so used to their Yield sound that Binaural threw me. I grudgingly liked it in the beginning and a few years later I love it, especially after seeing the songs live for a second time in 2006.

My name's Brian, and I've been a Pearl Jam addict since 1998. I'm not trying to quit, either.
