Making way
for the angels
I've known.

Take my hand
take only my
open spaces.

Fill the rest
with sandstorm days
the souls of the damned
dwell
howling low
in halls of half-light
slaving to craft
a thought
or emotion.

Find it hard to have it both ways.
The words don't come
as easy when I'm smiling.

Cold nose pressed against the glass
I know of wanting
and of having...

    sandstorm days... I love this part because in a sandstorm a person is totally overwhelmed by the noise and the grit and you have to leave your eyes closed. :) What a good description!
