Over Sand & Sea

I chase the rainbow for its cup of gold,
and I love a man that I cannot hold.
He's far in the distance, a lonely frame;
and the winds, they echo, his dear, sweet name.

My heart would leap at his every word,
And every sound he made touched a chord.
I live in my thoughts of that ardent bloom.
Silence is an echo that fills the room.
Cold are skies, though summer is fresh and clear.
I only wish my heart could bring him near.
Though the landscape wears a heavenly hue,
I am drained by pulses long overdue.

I still live him, breathe him, and long to be
in the arms of the man who made me free.
A funny thing is love, in land so fair,
so in love with a man who does not care.

He's like a sailor that makes land his foe.
He rides the waves where no other can go.
Sunlight guides him over the ocean's swell,
and loving him becomes my private hell.

And how my heart becomes a crushing stone
that no man on this earth could lift alone.
I have bruised my sweet breasts against its weight.
Love becomes something I begin to hate.

Still, I choose to love him, I hoard the stone.
I wake in sorrow and I stand alone.
I freely wear my heart upon my sleeve;
and if you choose to hear, you can believe.

It's the same story, far too old to learn.
Love is a fire; and like fire, it must burn.
We are but the words on a breathing page
penned by sagacious hands of saint and sage.

I chase the rainbow over sand and sea;
and perhaps, one day, he'll return to me.
No matter wind nor tempestuous storm,
I keep my eyes on his shadowy form.

When life has landed upon hallowed ground,
I pray that our pages will there be found;
and where the winds echo our names above,
we'll be together, and he'll be my love.
I can hear what you're thinking,.. All your doubts & fears,... If U look in my eye,... In time you'll find,... the reason I'm here,.. In time U may come back somday,.. To live once more-- or die once more-- In time your time,... will be no more,...
