The meaning behind this one is pretty deep for me. It was inspired by the suicide of one of my friends two years ago. And I'd wanted to write something since then to kinda get everything out. But nothing ever came to me until tonight, when I was browsing his MySpace. I guess just thinking back on it, and how we'd be nowdays with eachother, and all that, it just flowed from there. So yeah. Needless to say, here's the lyrics. I might record it sometime:

3/15/05
(Charlie Marshall)

And that was the day when michael took his life
Through the haze of medication, on a lonely afternoon
With a rope around his neck, swinging back and fourth
I guess I should've known it was coming way too soon

It was almost midnight, and I can still remember
Everything that happened, and everything in between
When I read the information that was being presented
I never cried, but even so, the truth can't be denied

The warning signs were all the while staring me down
And here I was, just trying to make sense of it
Every single opportunity that I was ever given
Now cradled in my hands, like broken glass

And that was the day when michael took his life
Through the haze of medication, on a lonely afternoon
With a rope around his neck, swinging back and fourth
I guess I should've known it was coming way too soon

The warning signs were all the while staring me down
And here I was, just trying to make sense of it
Every single opportunity that I was ever given
Now cradled in my hands, like broken glass

I lost my friend, two years ago today
And I wish there could've been some other way
Then maybe I could deal with all this pain
That he left behind for all of us to share

That was the day when michael took his life
Through the haze of medication, on a lonely afternoon
With a rope around his neck, swinging back and fourth
I guess I should've known it was coming way too soon

I guess I should've known it was coming way too soon
Take a ride on the relationship:
