He has been living in that cold damp cave for almost 2 years now. He thinks of her often, how he hurt her by leaving the way he did, he misses her touch.
He is a loner, she knew that when they met, years ago. He try’s so very hard to be more open with his feeling, only the wolf seems to understand his wild nature. The wolf has grown to be a close companion to the scruffy haired, dingy clothed man, over these last years. He recalls when he had that long bought of depression. He had held up in the cave for months. The wolf brought him fresh kills to eat, daily- He has turned almost as wild as the four legged hunter. Now and then the wolf brings a piece of her clothing, he must have got it from the dock that she was so fond of. He pulls the sweater close to his nose, taking in the aroma of her body. . . He smiles a sad smile, he knows that the wolf has also kept an eye on her and the child.

Can't you see that there's light in the dark.

putting the child to bed she seems distracted. the wind is up and she can hear the tree branches scrape against the cabin walls. she kisses her childs forehead. turning out the light she closes the door behind her. she hears a low moan from somewhere outside and she shivers. his presence is everywhere and she finds her mind occupied with thoughts of him at times that always surprise her. she saw the wolf again earlier. it sat on the dock staring back at the cabin. the child was with her and when he saw the wild dog he ran towards it. she grabbed him in fear and held him close telling him no. but the wolf just sat there seemingly in peace and made no move towards her or her child. in her quietest moments she wonders if he is the wolf.hear my name
