The Gardner

Misguided killing the misguided
A bad seed shown on th T.V.
A world at war
Applause heard like a roaring lion
Another weed is dead

Pretty flowers immeshed in the weeds
Dying as if part of the disease
Forgotten new born flowers
Never experiencing a beautiful rain-shower

A sacred rainbow in heaven awaits them
While the weeds engulf this evil world
Choking the life out of the beautiful flowers
of another world

Fear not beautiful ones
Your tiny pedals will survive,
this temporary pain
For I am the Gardner up above.
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.

  • I feel the need to explain my inspiration for this poem.
When I saw on the news that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
was killed, I first thought ok another dead person in this war.
However, when the news stated that an eight-year-old child was killed,
it infuriated me. With all the US intelligence it seems like they could have
shot him, instead of dropping two five-hundred pound bombs on the house.
The child’s death may have been excusable to some, but it totally pissed me off!
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.
