Her Unspoken Promise

He sits alone in his box.
He’s sad when he’s alone.

Thoughts of her promise
Her unspoken promise

She promised him
She would never leave.

Not in her spoken words.
It was in her music.

He thought she never shared.
How could he have
Been so naïve.

Her messages were clear.
Sending them through songs.
He picked every one out.

Her secrets were explained.
Her life could be read.
They’re life together
Not a lie.

Tears they shared.
So far away.
Connected with a song.

She promised him,
That she would always be.

When he woke,
He reached for their song.

It brought her close.
He could feel her touch.

It’s been so long.
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.
