Life's Winding Road

Memories of her honest voice,
Haunt his every thought.

Feeling his foot press to the floor,
The worn-out truck speeds on
With a purpose.

He counts the beats of his heart.
She floats in his blood.

Halting all forward motion,
He reaches for her number.

He remembers the first time.
Awkward, questionable feelings
Filled his mind.

This time is different,
His feeling are real.
He loves her.

Dazed in her words,
For a moment: nothing else matters.

His foot not so heavy.
Oblivious to his surrondings.
Wishing to feel her kiss.
Her patience, whispering in his ear.
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.
