hope

I hope
I pray
Pray someday
Someday that I may
That I might
Might someday live outside of fright
Fright of winning
Winning a battle
A battle fought
Fought without feeling
Feeling of passion
Passion or pain
Pain only to be given
Given for personal gain
I hope
I pray
Pray someday
Someday that I may
That I might
Might someday live without fear
Fear of loosing
Loosing my mind
But mind over matter
Matter that has come to me
From me may go away
For fear can only be known
Known by those of true love
Love is a feeling
A feeling I fear the most
It stands without reason
Reason of mind
For a mind filled with loves
Can leave all the rest behind
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
(Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
(And function)
Function is the key

    If you live your life in so much fear that you wont face it then you aren't living at all instead your a prisoner of your own psyche and you definitely need meds as well as a shrink!

    in otherwords....love can conquer any fear

    not too peaceful and definately not boring....even though I was supposed to fly to the coast, but changed my mind, it was a uber new years

    I am impressed with this piece.

    Is the opposite of fear, love? That's the question I wonder after reading it.

    can one not fear love the most, or at least the risk of loosing it? Once you find it, surely you don't want it to go away. But, even though that may be your fear, can the power and importance of it overcome that fear. You may not want to loose it, but you would rather risk loosing it than never having it at all.

    agreed. I have loved and lost. OUCH!
    K-The lost will do their best to get home, if they are loved. To our soldiers who have given what they had.

    All this talk of fear and love reminded me of a poem I've posted before by Lorna Crozier and I wanted to post it again because it's moving and I like it.

    "WE CALL THIS FEAR

    We call this fear love, this tearing,
    this fist, this sharpened tongue
    love. I could kill you, I say,
    many times. You do not carry
    the only pain. There is more
    than your world: the drunks
    you find bleeding on the tiles,
    the women full of holes, the dog
    with torn eyes, the poet who has
    chewed his tongue.

    There is this room,
    this woman who brings you food
    wears your bruises on her cheeks.

    And now, to answer your question, depop. :) I don't think love is something to be feared in itself, it's just all those other emotions that come along with it that can be scary. I don't think love should be scary, it's just those past relations that one maybe calls love but that weren't, can make one weary of letting love in, I suppose--especially if they "loved" an abusive person and have been mixed up about what love really means.

    Me, I'd have to agree, "'tis better to have loved and lost..." :)

    i've probably read this poem about a hundred times DePop-- i like it alot, how the ending changes the meaning back into the sentiment of the beginning, and how it's hopeful yet brutally realistic and honest... i never really know what to say to you or about your words,... so i've waited,.... and i'm not sure if this comment is adequate--but then i rarely feel anything i do is adequate--but i think this is a superb expression of something so many of us have experienced and felt... so thank you...

    yes, but ironic that it is lost love that drives most people mad.
