I guess technically, an album isn't due for still a year or 2, but has anyone heard of anything in the works?

  • Apparently there is some pretty legitimate evidence that Brendan O'Brien is producing the new album and is doing it fairly soon.

At thelivingend.com, there is a bit of information on their new album, dated March 27,2008. It says that BOB is mixing the album "in between his commitments recording the new AC/DC album and the new Pearl Jam record." Recording is to have started on March 31.

And sorry if I don't give credit where credit is due. Someone posted it before but I cant remember who it was. But whomever it was, Thanks!

    Yes, they have.

that is a good quote.... unless "in between" means he will do the ACDC album...then this album.... then the Pearl Jam record...... you know...in between
  • That's not true, IMO. I just recently listened to a bunch of their stuff and they were awesome for a while. I think the peak was probably Ballbreaker.

I meant in context to the Living End. Sorry for the confusion.

2010? I highly doubt they're going to take as long in between albums this time around. I wouldn't be surprised at a late 2008 or early 2009 release.

Same formula is being used as the Avocado album....they went and toured Canada (and South America) to "warm up" so to speak. My guess is that they'll be in the studio during the summer/fall and come out with a new album early 2009 for another grand tour.

Considering that the Avocado album is arguably one of their best (and they know it), the formula makes sense.

It would be nice to hear some new tunes on this tour but I don't think we will. Maybe through an improv in there somewhere.

They went to Canada and South America while recording Pearl Jam. They needed to get out of the studio and hit the road for a bit.

So if they are keeping the same formula would that mean the new album is 50-60% done?? hmmm

I think they're probably heading into the studio sooner than later. I look for an album about a year from now. I think they have only begun to enjoy the freedom they have now...and they seem to be doin the thing they said they would do...Ament said they'd be heading in soon a few months ago, and they put out a disc about every three years, so that's my guess.

I'm excited about the possibilities of a new album for them, I really liked Avocado and, if the formula stays the same, I could definitely do more shows next summer.

    I agree.

I read an interview with Jeff (link on here somewhere) that said the guys got together for a week or so earlier this year and just played around but they "had fun" and it was a "good experience".

I would say Feb 2009 at the earliest... sept 2009 at latest.

But I know almost nothing about that business.

    Scratch; I hope.

    Early 2009 I'm thinking.

Then bring on a world tour.

I understood that Vedder made a comment on the solo dates re recording but I cant recall the specifics, but it was on the basis that this was a break from recording....

yeah that was in the one of the Berkeley review threads in the Given To Fly section i think...hopefully if theyre in the middle of recording it means sooner rather than later!

In a few weeks the self-titled record will have been out for two years - I can hardly believe it!

I'm really hoping for a late 2008 album (or early 2009 at the latest). Two and a half years is long enough between records.

i think they'll do something along the lines of what radiohead did with in rainbows! they headed in that direction last time by releasing worldwide suicide as a free download

I'm secretly wishing they pull a Radiohead/Raconteurs on us :p

Raconteurs more than Radiohead. I have no problem paying normal price for a Pearl Jam album. I have yet to dislike one of them.

yeah the comment was brief but the person said that ed mentioned that they were recording, so think sooner rather than later :)
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

I'd definitely pay full price if they did like the Raconteurs, and said "Available in June '08", releasing it right after it was done being mixed!! **Here's to hoping**
I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!
