Every Now and Than

Every now and than...
I dig deep to the heart of it,
and I see things that happened,
I let my mind wander,

Every now and than,
I lay down the barriers,
I allow myself to remember,
remember who you were,

That I was raised to think that love was beautiful,
both giving, both respectfully accepting the other,
faults and all,

That your best friend, your lover, your soulmate,
your compainion was there for you protecting,
completing who you are,

But what do you do when you are shown all the opposite,
that your best is never good enough and the dog is worth more,
and you need protection from the one you trusted,
and you gave the most sacred thing when you opened up your heart,

Doe that make you foolish because you weren't as smart as others,
guilable, niave, sheltered,
because you wanted to share the world,

Maybe too loving, maybe too unconditional, perhaps too trusting,
wanting good like what you had known,

So every now and than I allow my mind to wander,
I don't allow myself to completely forget,
so that you will never again fool my heart...
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
