being open hearted

people change sometimes,
maybe not the way they laugh,
or the little ways that make them who they are,

but sometimes they rethink things,
sometimes they reflect on the past and future,

they regret the harm they have done to others,
they miss friendships they have lost,

they decide to do right and be responsible,
they make a decision to own what they feel,

sometimes people redeem themselves
because they really need to,

never close the door to genuine love and stare in blind judgement,
because sometimes people really do change...
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!

    and you're just an observer,
    watching the proceedings
    how would you know
    how different you would feel
    afterwards?

    A trial at the hands wrapped in thread
    that binds the heart back up.
    Strangers working on the nuances
    in their strange land
    filled with lights so bright
    you sleep to refuse blindness.

    They told you an open heart is primed to be closed,
    and you shut down the lights with their recommendations,
    and eventually you find the darkness
    a comfort.

    I really liked this one. It pulled heart-string for me. I am one that wants to change. Cheers to you! :)

    Great read Ms. Haiku, the end made me sad though - I hope to never be comfortable to stay in darkness... :)

    Changing is a choice, a hard one, but sometimes needed. I am glad you enjoyed the read and hope for wonderful changes for you! :)

    Bossman - Thanks so much, you are very kind! I tend to right straight from the heart with honesty, I should probably be more mysterious but I guess I am more of a straight shooter... :)

    I do know right from write, duhh....I think my brain has officially left, this last trimester is a bear! :)

    Twin1. I've been away for a while so I am checking up some of my favourites writers on here, which includes you, and I'm glad I did. I love your poems. more often than not they leave me feeling happy. They are heartfelt but not soppy and positive but not unrealistic. Love it.

    One can watch its leaves float away,
    rest, re-energize, and look a new
    leaves soon grow, taking form in a better way
    bloodlines run ever deep
    changing souls is difficult
    when leaves lifelines seep from the tree
    whos veins always go root deep
    The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

    And I won't make the same mistakes

    Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
